General Admission Requirements for Postgraduate Study at Igbinedion University
- A candidate for postgraduate studies at Igbinedion University must have earned at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, or GCE (or their equivalents) at the ordinary level or higher. REQUIREMENT: A CREDIT PASS IN MATH AND ENGLISH.
- Four credits at the Ordinary level in addition to an OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB, or Advance level pass, or an equivalent qualification.
- A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not eligible for admission to the university’s postgraduate programs. To be considered for admission to the Master’s Programs, he/she must hold a PGD.
- A candidate for the PhD in any of Igbinedion University’s programs must have earned a weighted average of at least 60% in the Master’s degree.
- Only students with a NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate are permitted to enroll in the various courses.
In addition to the preceding, candidates for:
–MSc Nursing:
Registered with the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Must be in possession of a valid Midwifery Council of Nigeria license – PGD
Nursing (PGDN):
Must be Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM)
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, such as Psychology, Nutrition, etc.
Computer Science:
Applicants with a degree in Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics may be considered.
Physiology:
Applicants with a B.Sc. in a related field in which Physiology has been taught may be considered.
MBAs from accredited universities are eligible to register for MPhil/PhD in Management.
TRANSCRIPTS: Applicants must request transcripts from their previous institution. The applications of applicants whose transcripts are not sent to the institution will not be processed.
REFEREE REPORTS: Candidates must print the referee forms supplied on the application page, fill them out, and return them directly to the School of Postgraduate Studies Secretary. The application will not be processed without the referee reports.
