Santander Scholarships is a Banco Santander initiative that offers scholarships to university students and professionals irrespective of their age for more than 25 years. It is now one of the world’s most extensive scholarship programs promoted by a private company.
Santander Scholarships remains firmly committed to lifelong learning as it seeks to meet the new needs of the labor market by helping students and professionals of all ages to skill up and improve their employability.
There are more than 400 Santander Scholarships programs each year, with over 124,000 scholarships in technology, research, languages, soft skills, professional practices, or women’s leadership.
The Santander Foundation offers scholarships for undergraduates and postgraduates. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation costs, travel expenses, insurance, books, and living allowance. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at one of the foundation’s partners universities.
They must also submit a personal statement describing how the award will help them achieve their career goals. Applications are open throughout January and February of each year.
Available Santander Scholarships
The scholarships are categorized into seven (7) tiers.
Through Santander Universities, Banco Santander offers scholarships in the following seven disciplines at no cost, which means they are free.
1. Santander Tech Scholarships
These promote learning based on programming or technological innovation to master digital and technological languages, such as blockchain, machine learning, cloud & DevOps, or product design strategies.
2. Santander Skills Scholarships
To help develop soft skills essential to thrive in the labor market. This program also includes programs aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills for those at a very early stage of the entrepreneurial start.
3. Santander Women’s Scholarships
Designed to promote women leaders’ professional development, leadership capacity, and negotiation skills.
4. Santander Language Scholarships
This scholarship strengthens your language knowledge skill so that you may leverage professional opportunities in an increasingly international and digitalized environment.

5. Santander Scholarships Studies
To help learners complete their studies through specific support to ensure that those with limited resources can achieve academic excellence and generate international mobility opportunities.
6. Santander Internship Scholarships
To promote the employability of university students through practical work experience. These scholarships aim to offer recent graduates opportunities to access quality first jobs.
7. Santander Research Scholarships
Designed to give material and financial support to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to start or continue their research plans.
Eligibility for Santander Scholarships
Scholarships are given to applicants who meet the requirements outlined in the scholarship application form. Applications are accepted from qualified candidates worldwide. You do not need to apply to each program; you can apply to multiple programs with a single application.
A completed application form and supporting documentation must be submitted to the relevant departmental contact listed on the form.
How to Apply for Santander Scholarships
It is straightforward to register; use an email address that has not previously been registered with Santander Scholarships and then follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Santander Scholarships application page
- Fill in your information. There are only six questions; answering them takes only a few minutes. The password must contain at least ten characters, including one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, and a number
- Accept the general terms and privacy policies, then click “Register“
- You will receive an email to confirm your email address (if it does not appear in your inbox, please check your spam or junk messages folder)
- Open the email, confirm your address, and you’re done

What should I do if my university isn’t on the list for a program or scholarship?
Some scholarships are only available to students from specific universities. If this is the case and your university is not one of the participants, you will be unable to apply for the scholarship. But don’t worry, there will be other programs in which you can participate.
How do I apply for the Scholarship?
Once you’ve found the program you’re looking for, go to the scholarship website, where you’ll find all the information and requirements you’ll need to participate. Follow these steps to ensure proper application:
There will be a red button on the right side of the scholarship website that says “Apply” or “Complete application” (if you previously saved your application as a draft)
Fill out the form and agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.
Check the information before confirming it, and click the “Apply” button in the form’s upper right-hand corner.
You will have applied by following these steps. If your application is successful, you will receive an email to confirm it. Remember that if you leave your application in draft mode, it will be incomplete, and you will not be added to the list of scholarship applicants.
